Multi-Swell?

Palmyra, New York December 18, 2006 – Garlock Sealing Technologies, a leader in fluid sealing technology for more than 100 years, recently introduced 104GS General Service Elastomeric Expansion Joints. These joints are ideal for new construction projects, water and wastewater treatment plants, power generation facilities, and various other industrial applications.

The 104GS features a neoprene tube and cover that offer excellent oil and abrasion resistance while also protecting the carcass from many environmental elements. The Neoprene construction makes the 104GS compatible with a wide range of media, making it an ideal general service expansion joint.

The expansion joints are reinforced by a combination of nylon fabric and carbon steel body wire, allowing the product to withstand significant operating pressures. Additional arch support rings supply stability under vacuum and help to extend the life of the product. The expansion joints are rigorously tested to ensure a consistent, high-quality product.

The wider, single-arch design of the 104GS joints allows for greater movements and helps to reduce the effects of moderate sediment transfer.

To simplify the ordering process, the 104GS is available in 2- through 24-inch ID sizes and sold complete with galvanized carbon steel retaining rings. Customers can purchase the new expansion joints through Garlock’s normal channels – including distributors and the new iStore on www.garlock.com.

Garlock Introduces Multi-Layer Graphite GRAPH-LOCK® 3128 Hochdruck® Gaskets

Palmyra, New York – Garlock Sealing Technologies, a leader in fluid sealing technology for more than 100 years, recently introduced GRAPH-LOCK 3128 Hochdruck gaskets. These innovative gaskets offer better handling and greater safety than other metal-inserted graphite sheet products. They also handle high pressure better than standard graphite gaskets because of reduced load loss and unparalleled torque retention – so they’re ideal for replacing spiral wound gaskets and Kammprofile gaskets in many applications.

Hochdruck – which is German for “high-pressure” – gaskets cut more easily than other graphite sheet and eject from gasket cutting dies more easily. They’re also much safer: they resist being drawn out by the gasket cutting die, so they don’t cut user’s fingers and hands like standard stainless steel foil reinforced graphite gaskets.

Hochdruck’s bonding agent reduces leaks by 2.5 times compared to competitive gaskets: it increases the graphite-to-graphite strength ratio and greatly improves sealability. They seal reliably and easily under moderate bolt load – and maintain that tight seal even during pressure fluctuations.

Customers in the power and refining industries enjoy Hochdruck gaskets’ patented "Adhesive Free" technology, anti-scratch and anti-stick surface properties, and extremely high compressive strength. There’s even a reduced sulfur version designed specifically for nuclear requirements to minimize stress corrosion cracking issues.

Hochdruck gaskets deliver excellent resistance – they work very well in extreme conditions, withstanding heat, pressure, and aggressive chemicals. They retain their dimensional stability in high temperatures; they’re also proven fire-safe.
Installation is easier, especially in confined spaces and large gasket configurations, because multiple layers of stainless foil create a more rigid gasket. This also reduces gasket breakage, so customers will save money because Hochdruck gaskets don’t flake or break like standard graphite gaskets.

For more information or to contact your local Garlock Representative visit www.garlock.com and click on representative locator.

The First Serviceable in Place Seal

Garlock Klozure® is proud to announce the release of the new XPS™ cartridge mechanical seal, the first truly Serviceable in Place mechanical seal in the industry.

Garlock Klozure’s new XPS seal is the industry’s first serviceable in place mechanical seal. Unlike traditional mechanical seals that house a single set of sealing faces, the XPS houses a series of sealing elements with some deployed and others held in reserve for future use. New elements can be deployed in a mater of seconds when a problem arises to allow users to continue their operation with minimal interruption. This represents a significant value for the user by not having to stop critical or expensive processes to perform a seal repair.

In addition to being serviceable in place, the XPS is one of the few mechanical seals in the world capable of running dry. The XPS sealing elements are capable of running totally dry for extended periods of time offering breakthrough industry protection during upset conditions! No more worrying if your traditional seal will be damaged due to a valve being shut or a tank empty - the XPS can handle it.

With the rebuild kit available on any XPS, the seal can also be fully reconditioned on site in under an hour at a fraction of the cost of conventional mechanical seals. With the XPS there is no need to send the seal back to a repair facility to get faces re-lapped or parts rebuilt.

The XPS is stocked for most ANSI pump sizes (Goulds, Flowserve, Peerless, Summit, Griswold, AKAY etc). Other applications are available with short lead-times.
