Case Study: Railcar Manway - GYLON® 3545 TUFF-RAIL®

Customer has historically used a nitrile (NBR) manway style gasket mainly due to cost. During plant level loading and unloading of the tank cars, it became obvious that the elastromeric gasket was the root of the cause and was not sealing properly. The gasket was being deformed during installation and splitting due to the demands of the narrow seating area of the nozzle and the impact of the heavy manway lid.
